Kayak for Safe Passage Kids Expedition
Deb Walters started her solo paddling journey in July 2014. She set out from Yarmouth, Maine where the Safe Passage U.S. Development Office is located. In January 2015, more than 1,000 miles into her trek, Deb underwent emergency spinal surgery. Ever-determined, Deb continued her speaking tour from South Carolina to Florida by car. Once in Florida, Deb boarded the pre-scheduled sailing vessel Polaris to safely sail to Guatemala. She was greeted by Safe Passage staff in Guatemala City and was welcomed with a celebration in her honor.
The journey continues. Deb is recovering and re-training, and plans to paddle the remaining miles that she missed due to injury and surgery. Your donation to her mission is most welcome and continues to make a tangible impact on over 500 Safe Passage students and their families. Thank you!
